Renowned celebrity designer Vicky Charles, known for her star-studded client roster, has taken on Miami’s luxury condo scene as the lead interior designer for The Villa in Edgewater. This marks the first full-scale luxury condominium project for New York design studio Charles & Co, collaborating with the buzzed-about hospitality brand Major Food Group.
The Villa, the first residential development for Major Food Group, promises to be a stunning addition to Miami’s skyline. One of the standout design elements of the residence is the exquisite kitchen. Working alongside Major Food Group’s Mario Carbone, Vicky Charles has created chef-style kitchens that serve as focal points within the tower’s vertical villas. These kitchens seamlessly marry Wolf appliances with pasta sinks, paying homage to traditional Italian culinary ethos while incorporating state-of-the-art features.
Charles & Co. has brought their sophisticated European sensibility to Villa’s interiors, infusing them with warmth, romance, and a connection to the waterfront setting. Each full-floor residence offers breathtaking water views, creating an elevated living experience. Noble materials such as travertine marble, wood flooring, and soft lighting have been carefully selected to set the tone for an elegant and inviting ambiance.
Inspired by the building’s prime location on the bay’s edge, Charles & Co. drew inspiration from cosmopolitan European destinations like Venice and the French Riviera. The design takes cues from iconic villas created by legendary Italian architects, incorporating grand entries and a sense of wonder. Stylized details and motifs are paired with soft furniture and textiles, balancing grandeur and a relaxed residential feel. The material choices, including muted pastel marbles, patinated metals, and warm woods, pay homage to the rich heritage of these cities. The resulting palette of soft pinks, greens, and ochres creates a calm, timeless atmosphere that harmonizes with the natural Miami light. From the lobby to the apartment units, organic shapes and soft edges are layered with texture and pattern, creating a cohesive and captivating aesthetic.
The exterior design of The Villa is the creation of local rising star Kurt Dannwolf, Architect of O’Donnell, Dannwolf & Partners (ODP Architects). Dannwolf’s elegant 650-foot-tall crystalline tower draws upon his experience collaborating with renowned design architects such as Zaha Hadid Architects, Foster + Partners, OMA, KPF, SOATA, Elkus Manfredi Architects, Herzog & de Meuron, and MAD Architects.
To engineer this impressive structure, the architects enlisted the expertise of DeSimone, a renowned structural design firm with offices in New York and Miami. With a portfolio of over 10,000 structures, including some of the most recognizable high-rises in New York, Miami, and globally, DeSimone’s involvement ensures the building’s structural integrity and safety.
Completing the design team for Villa Miami is world-renowned landscape architect Enzo Enea from Switzerland, who brings his exceptional expertise to the project. With a long-standing presence in Miami and a history of remarkable projects both locally and globally, Enea’s masterful touch is set to transform the outdoor spaces of The Villa.
The landscape design of Villa Miami residences embraces the spirit of the place, taking into account its beautiful location on Biscayne Bay. Native Floridian sub-tropical species and large specimen trees provide shade and thrive in the waterfront setting, creating intimate gathering spaces that enhance the user experience. The lush planting frames the expansive water and skyline views, while warm wood decks and natural stone complement the architecture and interior design, resulting in a holistic and harmonious project.
As The Villa in Edgewater takes shape, it promises to redefine luxury living in Miami. With Vicky Charles leading the interior design, the collaboration between Major Food Group, Charles & Co., ODP Architects, DeSimone, and Enzo Enea ensures a truly exceptional living experience that blends world-class design, breathtaking views, and a connection to the vibrant Miami waterfront.
