Having added the football legend Lionel Messi to their ranks last month, Inter Miami CF has showcased spectacular form. On Tuesday, he added another to his tally as Inter Miami dispatched the Philadelphia Union 4-1. This impressive run has seen Miami score a staggering 21 goals in their last six matches, ensuring their first-ever appearance in the Leagues Cup final.
Leagues Cup Final in Nashvillle
Nashville SC’s path to the final was paved with determination and skill. The team secured their berth by overcoming a challenge from Liga MX powerhouse CF Monterrey with a 2-0 win. The turning point came in the 67th minute when Sam Surridge converted a sublime pass from Hany Mukhtar. Fafa Picault added another in injury time to seal the deal, ensuring Nashville’s first appearance in a Leagues Cup Final. Hosting rights were awarded to Nashville’s Geodis Park, a testament to their impressive performance in the 2022 Supporters’ Shield, where they finished ninth.
By reaching the final, both Inter Miami CF and Nashville SC have secured their maiden appearance in the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup. The Leagues Cup 2023 winner will clinch a Round of 16 position in the forthcoming Concacaf tournament, while the runner-up and the winner of the third-place match will start their campaign from Round One.
On the same day as the grand finale, Philadelphia Union will lock horns with CF Monterrey at 6:00 p.m. ET for the Third Place match at Subaru Park in Chester, PA.
