History

Delray Beach, located in Palm Beach County, Florida, has a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century. Originally inhabited by the Jaega Native Americans, the area began to see European settlement in the late 1800s. In 1895, the construction of the Florida East Coast Railway by Henry Flagler significantly boosted Delray Beach’s growth, making it more accessible to settlers and visitors alike. The town was officially incorporated in 1911, combining the earlier communities of Linton and Delray. Throughout the early 20th century, Delray Beach developed as an agricultural hub, particularly known for its pineapple and tomato farms. However, as the century progressed, tourism began to play an increasingly important role in the local economy. The city's beautiful beaches, vibrant arts scene, and historic architecture attracted visitors from all over.   Explore our comprehensive list of New and Pre-Construction, A Class Office Space, and Most Expensive Neighborhoods.
